The Soundtracks
VELVET SHADOWS
This playlist will probably resonate with many. Pop based, it’s the attitude I had in my head while painting.
Dark, bold, and unapologetically feminine, even if I’m not. It never stopped me singing aloud to Nightmare by Halsey or Goddess by Jaira Burns.
These tracks helped me tap into the energy of the women I paint, strong, complex, unforgettable.
VELVET SHADOWS VINTAGE
I’ve always had a love for the past, the drama, the elegance, the stories. This mix is full of tracks that feel like old perfume, empty whisky bottles and cigarette smoke.
Songs like She made My Blood Run Cold by Ike Turner and Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra helped shape the world of Velvet Shadows before even I knew what to paint.
VELVET SHADOWS JAZZ
This one’s all about atmosphere.
These Noir soundtracks and smoky jazz pieces helped me slow down and stay inside the shadows a little longer. It’s the mood, the sense of danger — the kind that wraps around you and doesn’t let go.
